A Creative Outlet for the Shopaholic

A Dark Night for the French Fatale

Hello, my name is Catherine and I am a shopaholic. (My friends call me "Cat.")

I started TiffTaff because I need a creative outlet. This is just a test post, and here's my first creation; I call it "A Dark Night for the French Fatale."

I'm not really sure what I'm trying to do here, except that I'd like spend my time making something beautiful—and not shopping and spending too much money for another coat, dress, handbag, pair of shoes, etc. that I don't need.

So instead, I'll put together virtual outfits. Hopefully they'll inspire me to, as my friend says, "shop my own closet" before heading to the mall. And, I hope they inspire you to get creative with your own threads.

Without further ado, here are items in this first set:

Burberry

Burberry London's classic cotton-gabardine trench coat gets a tough new-season twist with supple black leather sleeves. Wear yours over a collared shirt and skinny jeans for a directional cold-weather look. Trust me, this is one of those investment pieces you appreciate more and more every year.

Christian Louboutin

These Christian Louboutins are your classic pump, but with an edge. The otherwise basic stiletto is updated with gold accents so you can easily transition from day to night. Wear it with your trusty black suit at the office; a LBD lets the shoes shine in the evening. And, of course, the Louboutin signature red sole is a tease around the clock.

Celine

I am obsessed with the Celine luggage tote. My favorite color is the burnt orange, but the combination of neutrals here make the high price worth it. (I always ask myself how often I can wear something, especially when it's a high-ticket item like this. Neutrals? Well, every single day, naturally!) Celine handbags are timeless, and can be paired with a vintage Chanel suit or your everyday jeans and T-shirt.

Louis Vuitton

This Louis Vuitton dress is amazing. It's so quixotic in a way that absolutely works. The elegant lace gives a dainty, ladylike feel. The puffy sleeves are whimsical while the black collar and trim let everyone know you're not a shrinking violet. The juxtaposition between feminine and forceful is magnificent. Silk, leather and lace. What more is there to say, really?

I hope you like this first ensemble. Check back often—and please feel free to share your creative muscle with me, too!
